Pacing Blind Dog

My dog has gradually lost his sight this year. He is a 15 year old lhasa apso. He usually sleeps when we are not home. But when we are home, he paces around non-stop. He can pace for 2-4 hours straight. He doesn't really want to go for walks, so much so I have to half drag him out of the house to do his business. So I doubt it's because he is restless and needs activities. Any ideas or tips to cope with his odd behavior and try to make his life easier?

I'm glad I found this board, I'm in dire need of support. I am the owner of an 11 year old shi tzu and he was just diagnosed with glaucoma. We never realized he had it. Upon starting the drops to relieve pressure, his vision, and/or depth perception has pretty much rendered him blind. I'm pretty distraught over the sudden change in his vision. Old doggie bumping into doors/doorways

I am so frustrated watching my 15 year old dog bang his nose into closed doors at night. They are open during the warm days, but the nights are cold and I need to close the door.

No way to put in doggie doors, I've wanted them for years!

I find myself leaving bright lights on overnight as well.

We have no vet now and I prefer herbs anyhow.

I am fostering a lab/collie mix who is thought to have glaucoma from a shelter where space was needed, and they knew I was already smitten with this guy. My dog was just diagnosed with cataracts on Friday and she is only 1. We took her to the opthamologist vet today and she suggested that we do cataract surgery, which is extremely expensive. They do not know what is causing the cataracts, they're assuming it is genetic because they tested her for diabetes and it came back negative. Right now it is only affecting one eye, but the vet said she can see early stages of a cataract in her other eye. Has anyone...

Hi.

My dog was diagnosed with diabetes last November. He has been getting progressively blind form cloudy eyes.

Over the weekend I noticed one of his eyes turning pinkish. By last night, the grey cloudiness had turned a burgundy colour.

I have an appointment with his vet this afternoon, but am growing increasingly worried.

Does anybody know what this might be?

My 3 year old beagle-mutt was diagnosed with glaucoma in both eyes on April 21st. Her pressure had been up and down so they never gave us an exact number. But they did tell us they were really high and that the enucleation was the only option for her comfort.
